Their smell is so strong and persistent that it is not even recommended to keep lilies indoors. But they are an indispensable decoration for the garden. The variety of varieties of these exquisite colors is amazing.

The representative of a large family of lilies, majestic and striking in beauty and size, is the Triumfator variety. Its name speaks for itself.

Grade description

Lily "Triumphant" refers to LO hybrids (Longiflorum / Oriental), that is, obtained by crossing a group of longiflorum and oriental varieties. Also known is the variety "White Triumphant" with snow-white buds. On a high one and a half meter stalk there can be up to 6 pieces at a time.

The flowers of this variety of lilies are in the form of bells directed to the side. They are dark pink with white tips gracefully curved back. The stamens of the flower are bright orange, located on long legs. The flower itself reaches 25 cm in diameter, has a very delicate aroma. On a one and a half meter sturdy stem, 3-5 of these flowers can simultaneously grow.

Lily usually blooms in July-August, the flowering period is up to 3 weeks. This winter-hardy variety tolerates frosts up to 29 degrees.

Breeding

Lilies grow in one place up to 5 years. In adult plants, several nests of bulbs of different sizes and ages appear. They are transplanted to a new place after flowering - in September-October.

The Triumfator lilies propagate, like other varieties, most often vegetatively. Onion bulbs are separated from the mother bulb and planted in containers so that they grow and get stronger. In addition, there are other methods of reproduction:

  • Scales. Scales with onion bottoms are planted in the ground and maintain constant soil moisture until small onions ripen in them.
  • Stalks. In spring or after flowering, the stem is separated from the bulb and planted on the garden bed. After a month and a half, several bulbs appear on the stems that have taken root. To have more, the underground part of the stem is cut longitudinally. Lilies with this method of reproduction bloom in the second year.
  • Leaves. During budding, leaves from plants are torn off and placed in an inclined state in boxes with earth, half filling them. Bulbs are formed after a month and a half.

Landing technology

Acquired bulbs should immediately be planted on the site. If the time is not suitable for this, then the planting material can be stored in a cool place at a temperature not lower than zero degrees in moss, coarse sand or in peat crumb.

Bulb planting is best done in April-May or in September-October. Planting depth should be no more than three bulb sizes.

Plot for lilies choose sunny. It is best that the sun illuminates it all the first half of the day. It is absolutely not suitable for growing lilies in a place where groundwater passes close or stagnant water. It is important that there are no sharp winds or drafts in the area allocated for planting lilies.

Before planting lilies, it is worth watering the soil twice with boiling water - then all underground parasites and insect pests will die. Bulbs are planted in pre-fertilized and moist moist earth. Under the bottom make sand. The distance between the colors should be at least half a meter. The soil after planting is mulched with peat and leaves.

Care Rules

Lilies need watering and top dressing. Water them only under the root so that water does not fall on the leaves. Top dressing should be done only during budding and after flowering, no later than mid-August. During this period, it is necessary to apply potash fertilizers to strengthen the bulbs. During flowering, lilies do not fertilize, as abundant nutrition contributes to their accelerated flowering.

After flowering, the peduncle is cut off, leaving at least 15 cm of its ground part. In order to avoid freezing of bulbs during wintering, the plant should be covered with leaves or covered with special protective tissues such as spunbond.
